James Hyde Wilson, Sr., 87, of Winston-Salem, died Monday, October 14, 2024, at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem.
He was born on May 21, 1937, in Forsyth County, to the late George Harold and Pearl Mae Savage Wilson.
Mr. Wilson was a member of Cornerstone Christian Church and he retired from Georgia-Pacific after working there for many years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy Submarine Service qualifying on the SS-344 USS Cobler in 1956. Jim was a member of Nathanael Greene Base
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, James Hyde Wilson, Jr.; a daughter, Sandra Lynn Wilson; a brother, George Follett Wilson; and a sister, Ann Wilson Oliver. Survivors include his wife, Sandra Sue McNab Wilson of the home; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life was held at 2 p.m., Friday, October 18, 2024, at Salemtowne Community Center, 190 Moravian Way Dr., Winston-Salem, NC 27106, with Rev. Kevin Frack officiating. The family invites friends to visit with them at the Saal Community Center following the service.
