ROCKY MOUNT – Joseph William “Joe” Goarck, age 87, was called home by his Savior on Monday, July 15, 2024. Born in Cohoes, NY on January 14, 1937, he was the only child of the late Joseph E. Goarck and Helen Dwyer Goarck. He was also preceded in death by his two sons.Joe leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 66 years, Jean Dixon Goarck; his four children, five very special grandchildren, and four great granddaughters.
United States Submarine Veterans Inc. Shipmate and Holland Club Member HMCS(SS) Joe Goarck left on Eternal Patrol early on the morning of 7/15 at approximately 0400. He served from 1954 to 1977. Joe qualfified on the USS Tecumseh (SSBN-628) in 1964. Joe was a dual member of the Tarheel Base and then with Old North State Base of which he was a founding member.
