SUMMARY:Moonshine Mountain Memorial Gathering
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the annual gathering on Armed Forces Day to honor the Lost Boats during World War II. It has been 20 years since the first gathering at Moonshine Mountain by the NC WWII Submarine Veterans and USSVI Tarheel Base Submarine Veterans. Remembering the “Lost Boats” today is no less important than it was then. The Moonshine Mountain Memorial is the work of TMC/SS Harrell Flowers\, a WWII Submarine Veteran who passed away in 2001 and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery. This year the remembrance ceremony will be held at the Lost Boats Memorial at 1000 and the NC Sub Vets meeting at Big Lynn Lodge at 1400. DESCRIPTION:Memorial Day Ceremony at the S-28 Monument followed by a base picnic at noon. \nJoin the Battleship NORTH CAROLINA for their 60th Annual Memorial Day Observance as people from all generations gather on deck to pay their respects to all who have served this great country. Featuring a military guest speaker\, a Color Guard\, a 21-gun salute\, a military band\, taps\, and a memorial wreath cast into the waters. This is a great way to honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for America. The ceremony usually lasts approximately an hour and begins at 5:00 p.m.

DESCRIPTION:Join us in Thomasville\, NC for the largest Memorial Day Parade in the Southeast! The Parade begins along Main Street across from the water fountain at the corner of Main Street and Salem Street. The parade will turn down Salem Street continuing to Memorial Park (Stadium Dr.) ending with a moving ceremony at Cushwa Stadium (201 Stadium Dr.). The parade will be led by two WWII veterans and there will be professional floats\, Military vehicles\, Gold Star families\, and more to see. Come for this patriotic parade and stay for a very meaningful ceremony after. DESCRIPTION:2025 Burnsville Registration \nOnce again it is time to hold the annual memorial service May 16 – 18 on Moonshine Mountain outside of Burnsville. DESCRIPTION:The Mk-14 Torpedo Float has been entered in this year’s parade. The time for parade to start is 9:00am which is earlier then previous years. So those who plan to participate this year\, you need to be at the staging area by 8:30am. The staging area and near by parking on East Main Street is shown on attachment 1. \nIf you are coming to Thomasville using I-85\, attachment 2 shows the suggest route to the staging area. NC 109 will be blocked at West Main Street. So heading to East Main Street you need to use Julian Ave to East Main Street. This road bears to the right off of NC 109 just past the Sunrise Dinner on the left. \nIf you are coming to Thomasville using Business I-85\, attachment 3 shows the suggest route to the staging area.  NC 109 will be blocked before East Main Street.
