DESCRIPTION:Join us in Thomasville\, NC for the largest Memorial Day Parade in the Southeast! The Parade begins along Main Street across from the water fountain at the corner of Main Street and Salem Street. The parade will turn down Salem Street continuing to Memorial Park (Stadium Dr.) ending with a moving ceremony at Cushwa Stadium (201 Stadium Dr.). The parade will be led by two WWII veterans and there will be professional floats\, Military vehicles\, Gold Star families\, and more to see. Come for this patriotic parade and stay for a very meaningful ceremony after. DESCRIPTION:Memorial Day Ceremony at the S-28 Monument followed by a base picnic at noon. \nJoin the Battleship NORTH CAROLINA for their 60th Annual Memorial Day Observance as people from all generations gather on deck to pay their respects to all who have served this great country. Featuring a military guest speaker\, a Color Guard\, a 21-gun salute\, a military band\, taps\, and a memorial wreath cast into the waters. This is a great way to honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for America. The ceremony usually lasts approximately an hour and begins at 5:00 p.m.

SUMMARY:Moonshine Mountain Memorial Gathering
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the annual gathering on Armed Forces Day to honor the Lost Boats during World War II. It has been 20 years since the first gathering at Moonshine Mountain by the NC WWII Submarine Veterans and USSVI Tarheel Base Submarine Veterans. Remembering the “Lost Boats” today is no less important than it was then. The Moonshine Mountain Memorial is the work of TMC/SS Harrell Flowers\, a WWII Submarine Veteran who passed away in 2001 and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery. This year the remembrance ceremony will be held at the Lost Boats Memorial at 1000 and the NC Sub Vets meeting at Big Lynn Lodge at 1400. SUMMARY:33rd Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade - Nags Head
DESCRIPTION:Event: St. Patrick’s Day Parade\nDate: March 17\, 2024\nTime: 1:00 PM\nLocation: The parade will start at mile point 11.5 at the intersection of Bladen Street and South Virginia Dare Trail.\nAbout:Over the years\, many more community groups began signing up for the parade\, and the crowds grew steadily. The parade features about 90 units and grows more each year. The parade features such groups as: \n\nMarching Bands\nDrill Teams\nCivic Organizations\nLocal Scout Groups\nMusicians\nFloats\nHorses\nBikes\n\nA panel of prominent local judges ranks the parade entries in such categories as Best Float\, Best Band/Music Group\, Best Unit\, and Best Overall. Prizes are given\, and everyone has bragging rights that last until the following year. \nWhen you come to enjoy Outer Banks events in March\, you will be welcomed by the fun-loving year-round residents and entertained by their quirky sense of humor\, including the Beach Chair Drill Team and Kazoo Band. You will enjoy seeing the many fine marching bands that come to Nags Head to share their music. \nThe St. Patrick’s Day Parade steps off in the early afternoon and continues for 3 hours. The parade covers a one-mile route\, giving plenty of room for onlookers to line the streets. \nOrganizers estimate that between 1\,500 and 1\,800 people are in the parade. Nearly 10\,000 people line the streets to enjoy the festivities. It has been estimated that half of the local year-round population participates in or watches the parade. This is a huge draw for visitors and locals alike\, and one of the biggest Outer Banks events in March.
